The International Occupational Hygiene Association welcomes this practical guidance from the ILO and the WHO. We believe it will show the way forward for countries still using chrysotile asbestos and assist them to set up national programmes to eliminate asbestos-related diseases. We are especially grateful to the ILO & WHO for their stated commitment to providing guidance, advice and practical tools to help individual countries identify the extent of asbestos-related disease and to develop their own programmes, based on proven approaches, to eliminate them. Workers are most at risk of contracting these diseases due to poorly controlled, and often unrecognised, exposure to asbestos materials in their daily labours. We urge governments around the world, particularly in
