In 1999, IOHA sponsored an International Workshop on Certification and Registration of Occupational Hygienists. The existing occupational hygiene certification and registration Boards were invited to attend the Workshop. The workshop achieved its aims and a report with recommendations was submitted to the IOHA Board of Directors on 12 April 2000. The recommendations contained in the report were acted on and a Certification Committee formed. In 2005 the committee was redesignated as the 'IOHA National Accreditation* Recognition Committee'. *The term “accreditation” is used here to encompass the diverse words used in different organizations (“certification”, “registration”, “faculty membership”) to describe the system/process for providing “credentials” designating professionalism in Occupational Hygiene. Documents relating to this subject can be found in Occupational Hygiene Accreditation area of the IOHA Online Library |
